Chimney Rebuild

Chimneys with excessive water damage, deteriorated mortar, or crumbled bricks should be evaluated for safety and integrity. If needed, we are able to rebuild most brick chimneys to prevent further damage to the chimney or home

CHIMNEY LINER

Not only do water heaters and furnaces need lined with a high quality liner but so do fireplaces. Many masonry fireplaces are without liners. Adding a liner improves fireplace efficiency, safety, and they also burn better when properly lined.

CHASE COVER REPLACEMENT

Faulty chase covers can develop rust problems which can lead to rust streaks down the side of the chase, water damage in your fire box, or water leaking into your home.

Crown Repair

Just like the flashing repair, we have a cost effective way of sealing and repairing crowns that are cracked and absorbing water. We apply a material that seals the crown from the outside elements and it comes with a 15 Yr. Mfg. warranty.

Chimney Cap Replacement

Many chimneys are without caps. We sell and install chimney caps to keep the chimney performing properly. Chimney caps keep out the elements such as rain and snow and also provide protection from birds and other animals getting into your chimney or home. We have many caps available from stainless steel, galvanized, aluminum and even copper.

DAMPER REPAIR

Many dampers do not fully close. This can cause major heat loss and in turn cause a substantial heating cost increase. We are able to repair most dampers or install new a one.

FIREPLACE UPGRADES

We also install upgrades to existing fireplaces

  • New Log Sets
  • Wood Burning Inserts
  • Gas Burning Inserts

TUCKPOINTING

Many masonry fireplaces and chimneys start to degrade with time. The freeze thaw cycle causes absorbed water to create cracks and eventually lead to greater damage. These cracks can become a major fire hazard. Exterior cracks can become very costly if not dealt with as they arise. Any crack in the firebox area needs to be repaired before the fireplace is useable. We grind all the joints that need tuckpointed and use a fireplace rated masonry cement to repair the joints.

TROUBLE SHOOTING

We service gas fireplaces and gas logs. Many people have gas fireplaces and have never had them cleaned. By having an annual cleaning of a gas fireplace we can extend the life of the product and making it as efficient possible. We can improve the function of your gas fireplace with regular maintenance, which includes ensuring the venting is clear, checking gas orifices, cleaning the log set, embers, sand, and coals, as well as inspection of all parts.

WATERPROOFING

Masonry chimneys‏ tend to absorb water causing major issues. When the masonry joints start to take on water, the water in our climate starts to freeze and expand then thaw and contract. This causes major damage to the chimney. We can prevent this from happening by applying a waterproof barrier. The product we use not only waterproofs but prevents staining without changing the appearance of the chimney.

FURNACE AND WATER HEATER VENTING

During inspections we often find that water heater and furnaces are not properly vented. We reline furnace and water heater venting that has obvious corrosion as well as reline masonry chimneys that the appliances may be vented into. When these appliances are improperly vented into a masonry chimney the moisture in the exhaust can cause water damage and premature aging causing the chimney to fall apart from the inside.

Smoke chamber Parging

Masonry fireplaces all have a smoke chamber. This is the area just above the fire box and the damper. In the past these were designed using corbelled or “step” style bricks. This technique causes turbulence in the chimney and makes for a poor draft. This can also be dangerous because it becomes very difficult to completely clean the area and any area that is not clean cannot be fully inspected. Parging this area is beneficial for several reasons. It makes a smooth lining keeping the flow of air smooth, provides stability to the smoke chamber, makes the chimney safer to use, and makes it easier to clean.

Chimney Sweeping

Our most common service call.  We recommend having your chimney swept if you are unsure of the last time it was swept, or if you just purchased a home. We also recommend a sweep after the first year of use to evaluate how often you should have it swept in the following year based on the wood you use and how dirty it is.

DRYER VENT CLEANING

Dryer vents need to be regularly cleaned to prevent dryer fires. The buildup of lint and dust in the dryer becomes flammable and causing a high risk of fire if not properly inspected and maintained. We also provide termination screens and replacement venting if needed.

GUTTER CLEANING

We inspect gutter systems for the buildup of debris and also clean the gutters. Gutters that overflow due to the lack of water drainage can cause water to run down the side of the home and sit against the foundation causing damage to the foundation and the interior of the home.

FLASHING REPAIR

The flashing around the chimney can be a common source of water leakage. Many flashings have been temporarily fixed with silicone or tar, however this repair does not last long. We have a very cost efficient material we apply around the flashings that has a 7 Yr. Mfg. warranty and completely seals the area where the chimney meets the roof line.
